Married Peacebuilders Effect Change in Nigeria

International Peacemaking Program (IPP) alum James Danladi ‘20 and  MA in International Peacebuilding (MAP) student Shekhe Danladi met in their teens when Shekhe’s family moved to Nasarawa, escaping from interreligious violence in another state of Northern Nigeria. Their interests in fostering peace and care for others quickly united them, and both are making their peacebuilding dreams a reality. “He is very creative, and I’m very hands-on,” Shekhe says.

Indonesian Scholar and Imam Visits HIU

On Saturday, Feb. 17, Dr. Nasaruddin Umar, the rector of PTIQ University, a higher education institution specializing in Quranic sciences, visited the students from PTIQ who are currently studying at HIU. PTIQ University and HIU have a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) strengthening the educational partnership between the two institutions.

Valentine's Day: Cultural Exchange for Love and Unity

A week before Valentine's Day, students on campus gathered to make homemade cards in a project with the Spiritual Life Center. Some cards will travel across the country and the world to where the students have left their loved ones to earn a peacebuilding degree.
