Chaplaincy Students Experience a Transformative RetreatJuly 22, 2025
Eleven students from Hartford International University’s Master of Arts in Chaplaincy program gathered in June for their second annual retreat, a three-day immersion in spiritual reflection, creative collaboration, and communal healing.
Sherry Turner
President and Professor of Psychology and Practice
Sherry Turner, President of Hartford International University, is the third woman and the first African American to lead the institution. Dr. Turner has extensive experience in higher education, most recently as Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at Rhodes College in Memphis, TN. Dr. Turner was raised and ordained in the Baptist church. Her experiences in ministry and the academy, particularly with diverse communities, sparked her passion to work in interfaith settings.

Cosmic WalkThe Cosmic Walk is an embodied ritual experience of the 13.8 billion-year journey of the Universe. In this practice, Sam King will guide participants as they walk along a 138-foot spiral-shaped rope marked with the major transformations necessary for life to emerge on Earth, followed by reflection
