Student Spotlight: Historic Call for the Rev. Erica Thompson
December 4, 2018
The Rev. Erica Thompson, a student in Hartford Seminary’s Doctor of Ministry program, was called on Dec. 2 as the senior minister of Asylum Hill Congregational Church in Hartford. The Rev. Thompson is the first woman to lead the 150-year-old church, which has a rich history.

The Faculty and Board of Trustees have voted to name Dr. Yahya Michot, an internationally known scholar who taught at Hartford Seminary for 10 years, Emeritus Professor of Islamic Thought and Christian-Muslim Relations.

Ertugrul Gokcekuyu, who teaches at the Islamic University of Applied Sciences of Rotterdam, The Netherlands, visited Hartford Seminary on Oct. 25 to meet with Ph.D. candidates and to give a lecture on “Compatibility of Muslim Identity in Political Institutions.”
