Qur’an and Hadith

Islam Awakened: A resource by Muslims for non-Muslims wanting to learn more about the Qur’an.

IslamiCity: An extensive Quran and Hadith search database as well as other very resourceful guides to understanding Islam from a traditional Muslim’s lens.

Jannah: Resource on Quran, Hadith, and other Islamic sciences. Particularly useful for those who want to learn proper Quranic recitation. It is also a good resource on accessing classical exegesis of the Quran and other classical literature.
 

Islamic Societies (in alphabetical order)

The Community of Imam Warith Deen Muhammad: The website of the largest African American Muslim community.

Council of American-Islamic Relations: The largest civil rights organization for Muslims in the United States. Have several action alerts and a daily update on news surrounding Muslims in America. A good resource for those interested in Muslim life in the United States.

International Association of Sufism: An organization dedicated to introduce Sufism in all its varied forms to the public.

Islamic Society of North America: The largest Muslim organization in the United States. This site has several good articles, links, online speeches, and a whole host of other resources.

Islamic Circle of North America: A major movement oriented organization in the United States that is run mainly by South Asian immigrant Muslims and their descendants. Good resource to movement oriented literature on Islam, especially from the Jamaat Islami that originates from Pakistan.

Muslim American Society: An activist oriented organization in the United States that provides programs and services that seek to better the individual and in turn, the greater society by imparting Islamic knowledge, promoting community service, engaging in political activism.

Muslim Student Association National: A student run organization that acts as an umbrella organization for all MSAs in the United States. A good resource for those interested in research about the Muslim American community.

Muslim Women’s League: Organization working to implement the values of Islam and thereby reclaim the status of women as free, equal and vital contributors to society.

AltMuslim: Articles and posts by millennial Muslims on the Patheos platform.

AltMuslmiah: a web magazine wholly dedicated to commentary and stories about gender-and-Islam.

The American Muslim: Provides an open forum for the discussion of ideas and issues of concern to Muslims in America from various points of view (based on Qur’an and Sunnah) representing no one school of thought, ethnic group or organization, but to encourage all to be represented in these pages and to speak for themselves.

IslamiCity: A Muslim run site that provides resources from a non-sectarian, comprehensive and holistic view of Islam and Muslims; to cultivate peace, inspire action, explore positive solutions and encourage purposeful living through the universal teachings of Islam.

IslamOnline.com: A collection of articles on contemporary events in the Muslim world from the eye of Muslim authors.

The Muslim Directory Online: A site dedicated to offering Muslim perspectives on contemporary affairs, including world events, politics, and other social issues. It provides an extensive Quran and Hadith search database.

Muslim Heritage: An excellent guide to Islamic history and contributions of Islamic civilization to the arts and sciences. Run by the Foundation for Science, Technology and Civilisation, UK.

Professor Alan Godlas' website on Islam: A very rich source on the Islamic tradition and on Sufism in particular. Many links to a wide variety of sites on the web.

BBC: Islam and the West: Features several excellent articles, conversations, and debates about prospects, hopes, and challenges facing the relationship between Islam and the West.

BBC: Islam: A simple introduction to the diverse faith of Islam with some good web links to other sites as well.  

Center for the Study of Islam and Democracy: A non-profit organization, based in Washington DC, dedicated to studying Islamic and democratic political thought and merging them into a modern Islamic democratic discourse.

Institute for Social Policy and Understanding: A nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that builds understanding and strengthens communities by laying a foundation of facts through sociological studies on Muslims in America and issues that impact them.

  • Resources in Christian-Muslim Relations:

    Anglican Church: Network for Interfaith Concerns (Christian-Muslim Digests): Begun in 2007, the digests provide factual coverage of stories involving Anglicans and Muslims in a way that shows a) what is happening in relations, and b) how the stories are handled in the media.

    Building Bridges Seminar: Since 2002, he Building Bridges Seminar has brought together a range of internationally recognized Christian and Muslim scholars for intensive study and exploration of many of the most significant themes in the interface between Islam and Christianity.

    The Centre for Muslim-Christian Studies, Oxford: An independent Christian-based academic centre where Christians and Muslims come together to learn from and about one another, and our respective faiths, in the context of living relationships.

    A Common Word Between Us and You:  Website of the 2007 invitation from Muslim leaders around the world for Christian-Muslim dialogue. Contains numerous added responses and articles on dialogue.

    Duncan Black Macdonald Center for the Study of Islam and Christian-Muslim Relations: A research center within Hartford International University dedicated to scholarly research, education, publication, and communication in the areas of the study of Islam and Christian-Muslim relations.

    ELCA Consultative Panel on Lutheran-Muslim Relations: Panel providing resources for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, as part of the Office of Ecumenical and Inter-Faith Relations.

    Georgetown Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding: Georgetown’s renowned center for interfaith dialogue with a particular emphasis on Muslim-Christian relations. Links to articles, books, and audio lectures published from the center.

    The Henry Martyn Institute: International Centre for Research, Interfaith Relations and Reconciliation (HMI) is an ecumenical Christian organisation dedicated to the objective study and teaching of religions and the promotion of interfaith relations and reconciliation.

    KAICIID: An intergovernmental organization of Saudi Arabia, Austria, Spain, and the Holy See, that fosters dialogue between people and communities who would not otherwise come into contact, but whose cooperation is essential to building effective, long-term solutions to global challenges.

    Presbyterian Principles for Interfaith Dialogue: Resource for the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. on interfaith dialogue.

    The Sanneh Institute: A scholarly community dedicated to the equipping and resourcing of religious leaders, scholars, academic institutions and wider African society through advanced inquiry.

    Shoulder to Shoulder: A national multifaith coalition of religious denominations and faith-based organizations who are committed to ending anti-Muslim hatred, discrimination, and violence in the United States of America.

    The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops General Resources on Islam: Authorized documents that guide the Catholic Church’s relations with other Christians and religious communities, based on the seminal document of Vatican II, Nostra Aetate.
