Toy Drive Begins for Gift-Giving Ministry
November 2, 2023
The Where Love Is Christmas Gift-Giving Ministry to Children in Need season has arrived. Supporters can begin to drop off donations in our lobby, reminding everyone of the beauty of giving. This annual project brings joy to children as well as to all who witness and volunteer.
Toys of all kinds help to support Emerita Professor Miriam Therese Winter and the Rev. Gail Williams, MA ’16, in their efforts to help children who might not receive a gift otherwise.
The Gift-Giving Ministry began years ago with a program to give gifts to children whose mothers were incarcerated in the women’s prison in Niantic. When that program ended, the ministry found a new purpose in providing gifts for needy children in the Greater Hartford area. Social workers are able to come to Hartford International University and “shop” for toys that fit the needs of their specific clients. Volunteers also fill hundreds of Christmas gift bags that serve as stockings.
The toys are distributed in mid-December. To support this cause, you can bring new toys or gifts (including for teenagers) to Hartford International University or make a tax-deductible donation via check payable to Hartford International University. Please include TOY DRIVE in the check memo line and send your gift to:
