About The Library

Take a short video tour!
The Hartford International University Library is a specialized academic research library supporting the research needs of HIU’s community of students, faculty, and scholars. We provide an extensive collection of print and electronic materials on religion, with particular strengths in Islamic Studies, Interreligious Studies, Theology and Ethics.  We subscribe to core print journals in these areas, and provide online access to a broad array of electronic journals and articles through our databases.
The Library strives to collect materials (both physical and digital) that directly meet the needs of the university classrooms and works to make those materials as accessible as possible. In support of the work of HIU we endeavor to promote interreligious dialog, openness, tolerance, and the pursuit of justice and peacebuilding.
Everyone is welcome at the Library.
The Library is a place for collaboration as well as quiet study.
The Library staff is here to help you. Please ask!
The Library has two primary study areas, one for reference and quiet study, and the other for collaboration and interaction with staff. The library is equipped with public access computers, and printing and scanning/copying are available. Our print collections are housed downstairs in compact shelving, allowing us to keep the main spaces open and light-filled.
The Library is open varied hours over the course of the year to accommodate the busy schedules of our students as best as possible.
