Carpenter Foundation Donates Funds for International Peacemaking Program Scholarships

December 1, 2016

Carpenter Foundation Donation

The E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation has donated $75,000 to Hartford Seminary to provide scholarships to one International Peacemaking Program student each year for the next three years. The students funded by the foundation will have a commitment to international religious peacemaking and will also identify as LGBT.

Students enrolled in the International Peacemaking Program spend one academic year studying interfaith dialogue and leadership skills. Upon completion of the required 18 credits, IPP students receive a Graduate Certificate in either Interfaith Dialogue or Islamic Studies and Christian-Muslim Relations. They live in intentionally interfaith housing on campus, spend time in local faith communities, and receive practical skill-building training to enhance their capacity as peacemakers.
