Applications for Fall 2014 Up 34% at Hartford Seminary
October 29, 2014
Hartford Seminary saw a 34 percent surge in applications for programs starting in Fall 2014. New student enrollment increased by 29 percent.
The Master of Arts, Cooperative Master of Divinity and the Seminary’s unique Islamic Chaplaincy Program experienced significant increases. The Seminary also saw gains in the number of special students and auditors. Students come from twelve states and four countries.
The highly competitive International Peacemaking Program, now in its 10th year, continues to attract well-qualified applicants from countries around the world experiencing religious conflict. The program provides a full scholarship to four students each year. This year’s students are from Indonesia, Iran, Lebanon, and Myanmar.
“I’m thrilled that increasing numbers of students are attracted to Hartford Seminary’s innovative programs and that they find a place in this unique community of learners,” Tina Demo, Director of Admissions and Recruitment, said. “Our students not only broaden their intellectual understanding of religious traditions, often by engaging those different from their own, but find their own spiritual lives deepened in the process. More students means that more compassionate and well-rounded leaders are being prepared to make a difference in a world that needs them.”
