Toy Drive Underway for Christmas Gift-Giving Ministry

November 2, 2022

MT's Toy Drive

The Where Love Is Christmas Gift-Giving Ministry to Children in Need season has arrived. Supporters can begin to drop off donations in our lobby, reminding everyone of the beauty of giving. This annual project brings joy to children as well as to all who witness and volunteer.

Toys of all kinds help to support Emerita Professor Miriam Therese Winter and the Rev. Gail Williams, MA ’16, in their efforts to help children who might not receive a gift otherwise. This initiative has consistently benefited more than 2,000 children each year.

The Gift-Giving Ministry began years ago with a program to give gifts to children whose mothers were incarcerated in the women’s prison in Niantic. When that program ended, the ministry found a new purpose in providing gifts for needy children in the Greater Hartford area. Social workers are able to come to Hartford International University and “shop” for toys that fit the needs of their specific clients. Volunteers also make and fill hundreds of Christmas stockings.

The toys are distributed in mid-December. To support this cause, you can bring new toys or gifts (including for teenagers) to Hartford International University or make a tax-deductible donation payable to Medical Mission Sisters and send it to:
