DAY 1: Wednesday, August 29

All new Master of Arts, Cooperative Master of Divinity, Graduate Certificate, and Islamic Chaplaincy students are strongly encouraged to attend. New special students, auditors and research scholars are welcome to attend.

5:15-5:45 Faculty and Key Staff Introductions

5:45-6:15 Student and Research Scholar Introductions

6:15-6:35 Refreshment Break and Chance For Students to Greet Your Advisor

6:35-7:15 Program Breakout Sessions

Group 1: Master of Arts, Graduate Certificate and Unmatriculated Students

Group 2: Islamic Chaplaincy Students

Group 3: Cooperative Master of Divinity Students

7:15-7:45 Being A Successful Graduate Student

7:45-8:00 Orientation Resources and Opportunities

8:00-8:30 Question and Answer Session; Closing

DAY 2: Thursday, August 30

All new international students are expected to attend. Others are invited to participate as desired except for the Student Housing Orientation which is required for all new residents.

9:00-9:15 am Welcome

9:15-12:15 Student Housing Orientation (All new residents are required to attend.)

1:15-3:15 American Classroom Culture Workshop

3:15-4:15 International Student Panel on ?Surprising Things About American Culture and Studying at Hartford Seminary

DAY 3: Friday, August 31

All new international students are expected to attend. Non-international, residential students are invited to participate as desired.

9:30-Noon Trip to Bank of America to Set-Up Accounts and to other Neighborhood Locations (Walking)

12:00-2:30 Lunch Break

2:30-5:00 Shopping Trip - Optional

DAY 4: Saturday, September 1

Optional - All international and residential students and research scholars are invited to participate.

9:30-1:00 Hartford History and Bus Trip to Downtown (Bushnell Park, Library, Cemetery at First Church, Old State House, Atheneum)

Day 5: Wednesday, September 5

All new international students are required to attend the morning sessions and are expected to attend the afternoon session.

8:00-11:00 English Language Testing (Meet in parking lot next to 77 Sherman Street)

11:30-12:00 Health Care, Insurance, and Visas

2:30-5:00 Introduction to Academic English for International Students

Convocation ? September 6, 4 pm

All students, research scholars, faculty and staff are invited to attend.

Library Training Sessions

All students and research scholars are invited to attend.

Saturday, September 15 9:30-12:00

Tuesday, November 20 5:30-8:00

Writing Workshops

All students are invited to attend.

Two Sessions Dates TBD probably in late October/early November

Using Word to Create a Perfectly Formatted Paper

All students are invited to attend.
