Meadville Lombard Theological School Joins Cooperative M.Div. Partner Schools
August 1, 2023
Hartford International University is pleased to announce the establishment of a new arrangement for its Cooperative Master of Divinity pathway with Chicago’s Meadville Lombard Theological School (MLTS), one of two Unitarian Universalist theological schools in North America.
Students in the Cooperative M.Div. pathway may take courses at HIU (either remotely or in person) and transfer them to MLTS as part of the M.Div. curriculum. The M.Div. program at MLST is flexible enough that students may complete their M.Div. through a hybrid and multiplatform format that combines online learning with minimal face-to-face time on campus in Chicago.
“Our new partnership with MLTS is another excellent resource for students who are preparing for ministry and want to experience HIU’s multifaith education,” said David D. Grafton, the Director of the M.Div. pathway. “What is particularly exciting about this partnership is that it provides those students seeking endorsement in the Unitarian Universalist Association a viable pathway without having to relocate to another part of the country for the completion of their degree.”
Cooperative M.Div. students take full advantage of HIU’s one-of-a-kind interreligious setting where students from all over the world study, pray, and prepare for public ministry together. While engaging in studies in traditional areas of Christian ministry, Cooperative M.Div. students learn together with colleagues from other religious traditions, developing knowledge and building skills for ministry in a multifaith world, before moving on to complete degrees at Yale Divinity School, Boston University School of Theology, Drew Theological School, or Chicago Theological Seminary’s online program. MLTS now joins that list.
HIU students receive supportive, personalized attention in their degree program as they discern their pathway to ministry and seek to meet the separate requirements of their own denomination or religious community for ordination, licensure, or formalized public ministry.
