Last Entry in 25-Year Academic Project Dedicated to 'Muslim World' Founder
June 13, 2014
Prof. Yahya Michot shares this news: The publication in 2013 of the 44th volume of the Encyclopaedia of Islam – Türkiye Diyanet Vakfı İslâm Ansiklopedisi started in 1988 in Istanbul by the Diyanet Foundation of Turkey marked the successful completion of an immense academic project. It is welcomed with joy and appreciation by all Muslims as well as by the scholarly community worldwide.
At Hartford Seminary, we are all the more happy to salute this remarkable achievement that the last entry of this İslâm Ansiklopedisi is devoted to Samuel Zwemer (1867-1952), the founder in 1911 of The Muslim World journal currently published by the Seminary, and that the cover of The Muslim World’s first issue is reproduced on the last page.
