Indonesian Scholar Reflection: An Introvert Feels Welcome
November 1, 2023
Sani Faqih Abdillah, S.H. (Post Graduate Student at University of PTIQ Jakarta)
I am very grateful to have the opportunity to learn and gain new experiences at Hartford International University.
Moreover, this is my first experience entering the country of America. I have so much to say about the experience of studying on this campus, but in this article I only convey three things.
First, culturally educationally, here is always disciplined and punctual. If we make an appointment at 1 pm, then come before that time. And that I found in all the corners of the activities on this campus and I really liked it.
Second, students and lecturers here never question our English skills. Although in the future we have to improve even better, but they still enjoy and be patient if our English is difficult. Even one of the advisors I had met, he waited when I had difficulty delivering my thesis presentation and he wanted to help translate it into English. It was so incredible.
And third, the educational atmosphere here is like a family. And yes we do know it's not a big campus, but maybe that's what makes the atmosphere here like a family. We can meet lecturers at free hours and not in a hurry. And almost of them recognize us. I think this is very comfortable for me whose type is introverted.
Well, those were three very interesting things during my time on the campus of Hartford International University for Religion and Peace. Thanks.
Thank you, Faqih!
